One important file was replaced by another. How to rescue the replaced file? I will show you 2 ways in this article. Keep reading to find more information.
Have you ever troubled in these situations?
I used PS to retouch some pictures for a few hours and I was exhausted. So, I made a big mistake. Here is the thing. There was a picture named “apple” on my Mac desktop. I also saved a picture named “apple” in another folder on my desktop. When I cut and pasted the picture in the folder onto the desktop, the computer prompted me “The destination already has a file named “apple.jpg”, I chose “Replace the file in the destination”. I immediately regretted doing it. However, it’s too late to blame me. Now I’m anxious to restore the replaced pictures. Who can help me? Thanks a lot.

Hello everyone, I’m an English editor. I have to deal with a lot of documents every day. Inevitably, I made lots of mistakes. Such as forgot to save the documents before shutting down the computer, or accidentally replaced the file with the same name, etc. Apparently, it’s difficult for me to recover these lost/damaged files. So, I’m here looking for help.
In our daily work, the computer is an integral part. We can store thousands of files, photos, documents, videos, music, etc. on the computer. Today, let’s talk about how to rescue data on the Mac after an accident. For example, one of the issues mentioned in the previous cases is: How to recover the replaced files on the Mac? I will introduce 2 ways for all of you. Keep reading to find more information.
Time Machine is very useful for creators, such as designers, writers, programmers, teachers, students, etc. which can keep a day’s worth of hourly backups, a month’s worth of daily backups, and weekly backups until there’s no more space. We can also compare the difference between the file before and now. In a word, you can record all the processes of the document from creation to abandonment.
Now, let’s see how it works.
By the way, we need to enable Time Machine and create a backup of the file in advance. How to enable the Time Machine and back up files on the Mac?
Step 1: Prepare a blank mobile hard drive, preferably a USB 3.0 hard drive.
Step 2: Open the Mac, click System Preferences button, and then click the Time Machine icon in the pop-up window. Click the Select Backup Disk in the pop-up window. Choose the hard drive and click Use Disk button. Check the box Back Up Automatically. The Time Machine will backup files for you.
Attention: To use a mobile hard drive for Time Machine backup, all data on the hard drive will be erased!
By the way, if you want to choose the type of your backup data. Click the Options button, you can exclude some items by adding them one by one into the pop-up list, finally, click Save.
If you didn’t turn on it, please move to Way 2.
If you turned on it, please read on.
Step 1 Connect the Time Machine backup disk to your Mac and click System Preferences button, and then click the Time Machine icon in the pop-up window.
Step 2 On the bottom right corner of the screen, choosing the backup files you want in the Timeline list, and then click Restore button to retrieve the overwritten files.
In fact, most of us don’t have the good habit of backing up data in time. Based on the premise of no file backup, or worse situations, such as a crashed computer, deletion, formatted partition, or hard drive problem, how to recover the overwritten file? Don’t worry. We still have the chance to rescue our data.
Data Recovery is an expert in the data recovery field. This software can recover file, photo, Excel, Word, PPT, video, email, audio, etc. from the computer (Windows and Mac), memory card, hard drive, flash drive, Xbox One/360, digital camera, etc.
Even if you don’t have backup data, or reinstall your computer system, this software promises to restore your lost data to the maximum extent possible.
Step 2 On the main interface, initially, we need to choose the data type from Image, Audio, Video, Email, Document, Others according to your need. Next in importance, choose the hard disk drive. Last, click the Scan button.
Step 3 All the results will be displayed on the right of the window. If you don’t see the file you needed, you can click the Deep Scan button on the top-right of the window. It will help you get more results.
Step 4 Finally, click the Recover button.
