Last Updated on December 8, 2020 by Jason Ben

As a big fan of Apple products, I can’t wait to buy a new one when it launches a new type of iPhone. Most of the people think that changing a mobile phone is not convenient because it’s a consuming task to transfer the data from the old phone to a new one. While, for me, it’s never a problem. With the help of iCloud backup, the data on my new iPhone will be just the same as the previous one. Sounds amazing? Do you want to know how to use iCloud? Follow me and I will show you how to do an iCloud backup step by step.

1 How to backup iPhone via iCloud

Follow the next steps:

Step 1 Connect iPhone to a Wi-Fi network.

Step 2 Settings>Your name >iCloud> iCloud Backup.

Step 3 Tap iCloud Backup and turn on iCloud Backup.

For iOS 10.2 or earlier devices, Settings>iCloud>Backup to turn on iCloud backup

Step 4 Tap Back Up Now and remember to keep the device connected to the Wi-Fi network during the backup process.

iPhone has an automatic iCloud backup function which can protect data as much as possible from iPhone’s sudden breakdown. The steps are as following.

Step 1 Settings > Your Name > iCloud > iCloud Backup to turn on iCloud Backup

For iOS10.2 or earlier devices, Settings > iCloud > Backup to turn on iCloud Backup

Step 2 Connect iPhone to a power source and a Wi-Fi network.

Step 3 Lock iPhone screen and make sure that you have adequate iCloud storage space. The backup process will begin automatically.

Although backing up by iCloud is a good way to secure your data, it also has some shortcomings. The backup is a package, you cannot preview it. The only way you know exactly what’s inside is to restoring the whole backup. But actually, in our daily life, we may just need to extract some of the contents such as messages, photos, contacts etc. Do we have other better option to fulfill that requirements? Moreover, Apple only provides 5GB iCloud storage space for free, we have to pay for extra space if needed. What else place can we store our backups in case of the 5GB is fully used? iMyFone D-Back can solve your problems above. By using iMyFone D-Back you can not only preview what’s in the backup file but also download the backups to your computer. How wonderful! Let me introduce the steps.
