Necessity to Know How to Restore from iCloud

It never occurs to us that our valuable photos, files or videos saved in our iPhone will be accidentally deleted, just like the following similar situations. One of the most effective ways to rescue your data is to restore them from iCloud. Follow this guide then you will know how to restore from iCloud.

Restore iPhone iPad from iCloud

Three ways to restore from iCloud.

Typically, there are three ways to rescue your data from iCloud:

  1. Download Data from iCloud.com
  2. Restore from iCloud with Resetting iOS Devices
  3. Restore from iCloud without Resetting iOS Devices

1 Download Data from iCloud.com

Step 1 On your computer, log on to iCloud.com with your Apple ID and password.

Step 2 Some files backed up will be presented. You can access them by clicking on them.

Disadvantage: Some data cannot recover in this way, like WhatsApp attachment, SMS, MMS, iMessages, voice memos and photo stream.

2 Restore from iCloud with Resetting iOS Devices

Tips for this method:
  1. Make sure you have signed in iCloud on your iPhone and iCloud setting is on. (Go to SettingsiCloudBackup).
  2. Make sure your iPhone will not run out of battery during this process. It is quite power-wasted and time-consuming.
  3. Don’t lock up your screen when it is connecting Wi-Fi network when you find your files are deleted, or iPhone will automatically update your backup files.
Procedures for this method:

Step 1 Reset your iPhone

Go to Settings GeneralResetErase All Contents and Settings (and then your device will restart automatically)

Step 2 After the restart process, Setup Assistant will begin. Follow those instructions step by step and then turn on Wi-Fi.

Step 3 A crucial step. When it reaches Apps & Data screen or similar page, choose Restore from iCloud Backup and Log on with your Apple ID.

Step 4 Choose the backup file you want according to the date and size and tap Restore.

Step 5 When told “Restore is complete”, your phone is downloading all the data in the background.

Step 6 Check whether the restore is finished. Go to “Setting”> “iCloud”>“Storage & Backup”. When the restore is done, all your data will be recovered.

Disadvantages that cannot be ignored:
  1. All the contents and settings on our iPhone will be removed. It is just like a new phone not “My phone”. And the erasing process takes a lot of time.
  2. We cannot preview the content of backup files. Once the iCloud backup files do not contain the file we want, all our effort is in vain.

Luckily, there is a much more convenient and powerful way to retrieve our lost files from iCloud.

By this means, a third-party tool and a computer will be needed.
