How to Block Porn on Google Chrome

Last Updated on April 25, 2023 by Angelos Chronis

The porn industry is one of the fastest growing businesses of the modern world. While the various sexual liberation movements have almost eradicated the stigma of watching pornography of the previous decades, we are now slowly edging towards the other end of the spectrum with the consumption of pornographic material being considered one of the most common addictions of the 21st century. A fact further exacerbated by how easily available pornography has become. If you have a computer with an internet browser like Chrome and an internet connection, you can watch porn at any time.

As with any other addiction, porn addictions could affect the addict's ability to focus, behave normally with other people, and, eventually, even alter the way they treat the other gender. These facts have been cause for great concern amongst parents, who are trying frantically to find ways to block their children's access to pornography.

If you also have kids and want to shelter them from the plague that is called pornography, you have come at the right place. We will show you how to apply porn-blockers on Google Chrome, the most popular browser and save your children from porn.

Use Google's tools to block access to porn on Chrome

The first thing we can use to block porn on Google Chrome are Google's own tools. To be precise, we will use two features called "SafeSearch" and "Google Family link". They were both made to restrict access to unsafe content on the internet for users like children or employees.

Block access to pornography with "SafeSearch"

Google "SafeSearch" is a tool that hides all results that pertain to unsafe content (e.g. 18+ sites) from Google searches. It doesn't prevent access to the sites themselves, so, someone who has a specific website in mind can still access it via the search bar. Yet, it can be a great first line of defence and can save you from your children finding some mature site by accident.

Here's how to use it:

  • Open Google's homepage.
  • Go to Settings - Search settings.
  • Then, check the Turn on SafeSearch box to activate SafeSearch.
  • Last, click Save.

Tip

Keep in mind that "SafeSearch" does not affect incognito mode.

Prevent access to porn with Google Family Link

The other tool bby Google that we can use is "Google Family Link". It is an app that you can download on Androids and Chromebooks and it will work as a pornblocker. It might be a bit complicated to use, but it will work fine on any Android or Chromebook.

Tip

Computer users and those that don't want to learn how to use a complicated app go here.

Here's how to use it:

  • Download Google Family Link from the Play Store. There is a separate app for the parent and one for the children. Both must be downloaded.
  • Create a separate Google account for the children.
  • Go to Parental Settings, select Filters on Google Chrome.
  • Enable Try to block mature sites.
  • Tap on Manage sites and then click on Blocked.
  • There, you can manage all the sites you want to block. The only downside is that you have to do this manually for every site.

Use browser extensions to block pornography

Another way of blocking pornography on Google Chrome, is by usig its extensions feature. Extensions let you customise your browsing experience by adding all kinds of extra functionality to your Google Chrome.

What we will do, to be precise, is install a porn-blocking add-on or extension. While it is easier, since the extension will do all the work for us, we cannot guarantee that they will be as effective or that there are no ways to circumvent them. Nonetheless, they are free and easy to install.

Here's what we need to do:

  • Search for a porn-blocker extension on Google. You choose any of the results you get.
  • Install it and add it to Chrome.
  • If it needs to be set up all you have to do is tap on the extension icon and find the extension you installed.
  • Click on it and then set it up as needed.
  • In our example we are using BlockerX. After installation, we click on the extensions icon.
  • Then, on the main menu, activate the extension if it isn't alredy on.

Block pornography on any browser with a professional porn-blocker

If you would rather not have to go through a bunch of technical stuff, and want to rest easy, knowing that you have a porn blocker that will work 100% of the time, you need mSpy, the only spy app that will let you:

  • Check the photos and videos on any device.
  • Check one's browser history.
  • Block access to entire websites.
  • And even block Wi-Fi access.

And you can do all this discreetly, from the comfort of your own home, and and at any time you want.

  • The Keyword tracking tab will act as a search engine for all the keywords you would not want them to type in such as "porn".
Need keyword tracking photo
  • The next thing you can check is their web history on the Browser History tab and even their bookmarked pages on the Browser Bookmark tab.
  • Last, if you find something unsavoury or something you would like to restrict access to, you can block the website through the Block Websites tab. Just type in the URL at the bottom and hit the Block button.

Conclusion

Pornography has become one of the most consumed and the most widely available things in the world. Unfortunately, this is further worsened by the fact that everyone has free, unhindered access to the internet and web browsers like Google Chrome. But this is something we should protect our children from either by using the tools we can find on our devices, or by using professional porn blockers to block porn on phones and computers.
